My Intern experience at TactLabs

One of the Key experiences that an Undergraduate student must have is an internship. Not just any internship but one that can unlock your true potential and bring valuable skills. In my case, it has fortunately happened at “TACTLABS”.

How did I get the intern opportunity?

It was during the Covid period when one day Mr. Raja CSP Raman conducted a webinar since he wanted to hire students from our college for internships at Tactii and TactLabs. Based on our resumes we were shortlisted and given a task during the interview to prove that we are eager and enthusiastic to learn. I was one of the fortunate ones to get selected for the internship.

The Beginning of my Internship

My internship journey started off really well. On the first couple of days, we were given assignments, and based on our technical knowledge and area of interest we were divided into teams. I was part of the machine learning team and my team comprised of 4 members in total.

Mr. Raja CSP Raman, who is the founder of TactLabs mentored us throughout the internship and I am really grateful for the amount of knowledge I was able to gain.

A Day in the Life of an Intern

We were given various types of projects to work on. Ex: We worked on various Machine learning and Deep Learning models, the front-end for it and the end-to-end deployment. This has made us really flexible and dynamic as this will prove a key in real-life job prospects since we know how each step is done.

We were made to pick our own deadlines for each project and ensure that we meet them. Due to this, I have realized how important it is to pick our deadlines as we will work with more focus and the amount of knowledge we gain is immense.

Also, Mr. Raja CSP Raman believed in creating uniqueness among students. Due to this ideology, I was given a separate topic to learn individually so that I can be different from the rest. So I would really like to thank him for this.

Apart from my internship, I was also a part of the Featurepreneur community where we can create features for real problems and earn money.

Gamified Learning- A new approach

What comes to your mind when you think about an internship?

work, work, and more work right? Well, you're wrong.

Though work is extremely important, fun also has its place at TactLabs. Every week we have competitions such as ‘Trivia Time’, ‘Spin the wheel’, ’Neeyum Naanum’,’ Tact Say’ which are fun sessions. Also, there many other games that are developed at TactLabs that can be used for learning new things.

Also, there are AMA (Ask Me Anything) sessions every week, where we get to interact with industry experts who have many years of experience in their respective fields.

The Result

There are so many great takeaways from the 3 months of internship. over 500 hours of working. The impact the internship had on me was just immense. Working as a team on industry-level projects improved my Team Working skills and my self-confidence. Also working on end-to-end projects gave me the skill to understand and work on various aspects of the project.
